Laura has been a team member at Opus Music School since 2015. She started as a Receptionist and has been promoted a few times until her current role as Director of Operations of Opus Music School. She oversees the day to day operations and manages all the administrative aspects of the school. Prior to working at Opus Music School, she had 4 years of work experience as a paralegal in a law firm.
Laura is also a musician and has many years of musical experience starting in elementary school through college. She plays alto and baritone saxophone and went to Mount San Antonio College studying under saxophonist Dr. Andrew Harrison. In her musical experience, she participated in marching band, jazz band, wind ensemble, quartets and as a soloist. Laura also learned to play the drums at Opus Music School and it has become one of her hobbies along with hiking, spending time with her family, and working out in the mornings with her daughter.
Director of Operations
Johnalyne is Office Assistant of Opus Music School and recently joined the Opus team in April of 2018. Johnalyne handles scheduling, phone calls, payments, and customer service. Prior to working at Opus Music School she worked at Coldstone Creamery as an ice cream artist and cake decorator for almost 4 years!
Johnalyne also has many years of musical experience as a vocalist. She started singing in elementary school and has had music in her life ever since. Since then she has performed in musical productions, went on tour in Hawaii with the pop program at Citrus College , and regularly performs gigs for weddings, city events, and other occasions. Johnalyne also leads worship at her church.
She is currently attending Cal State LA where she is pursuing her degree in Speech-Language Pathology in hopes to help others find their voice within the world! Aside from playing music and attending school, some of Johnalyne’s other hobbies include watching movies, bowling, and going on walks.
Sara recently joined the Opus Music School team as a receptionist. She assists in customer service aspects of the school, such as assisting customers, scheduling, and invoicing. Prior to working at Opus, Sara worked as a manager at Peek-a-Boo Factory, an indoor playground/party space. She handled most of the day-to-day operations, as well interacting with children during parties, drop-offs, and summer camps.
Sara enjoys music and performed in her high school’s rendition of West Side Story as Graziella. She also enjoys teaching her daughter the importance of music and creative expression by playing the xylophone and singing with her. She is excited to pursue more musical knowledge while working at Opus Music School.
Sara and her family are residents of Hacienda Heights. Sara enjoys bringing her daughter to Los Robles Park to splash in the water when it is hot. Some of her other hobbies include crafting, drawing, watching movies, and spending time with her family.
Theresa Cheng is the Founder and Owner of Opus Music School. She is a musician at heart but also has a business background. In 5 years, she has grown the school to nearly 300 students and a staff of 17. Prior to starting Opus Music School, she worked as a finance consultant at Big 4 accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in downtown Los Angeles.
She worked 8 years in finance and as a CPA prior to starting Opus Music School in 2014. Mrs. Theresa grew up in Hacienda Heights and brings a true passion to music teaching and her goal is to share the joys of music with as many people in the community as possible. She is also the mother of a toddler boy, who she thinks will be a future Opus Music School student!
Mrs. Theresa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business-Economics from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy from Cal State Fullerton. She enjoys traveling, arts and crafts, playing with cars and trucks with her son, and taking her weekly piyo workout class.
