Lesson Policies
Please acknowledge receipt and understanding of School Policies by signing the Opus Music School New Student Enrollment Forms.
1. Tuition
All payments are processed automatically on the 1st of the month charging the credit card used during enrollment. Lessons occur once a week at the same time every week.
Here are our current tuition rates:
Private Lesson Length - Amount Per Month
30 minute lesson once a week - $135 per month
45 minute lesson once a week - $185 per month
1 hour lesson once a week - $250 per month
Tuition is the same amount every month and is not adjusted for missed lessons. Once you select a lesson time, we reserve that teacher’s time every week for you. Hence, the tuition amount is the same every month. Monthly tuition is based on a 48 week year and has already been pro-rated to reflect the 4 weeks a year we are closed for holidays. In certain months you will get 5 lessons, in certain months you will get 3 lessons, and in most months you will get 4 lessons, but the charge is the same.
There is a one-time $25 registration fee per family. Additional fees may apply if the student participates in recitals, performances, or music exams. Longer lesson length availability is not guaranteed and is based on the current availability of teachers. Tuition is subject to an annual increase on August 1.
2. Payments
Enrollment is accepted anytime during the year and continues on a month-to-month basis.
The amount due at the 1st lesson is the 1st month’s tuition (pro-rated for the number of lessons in the 1st month). Thereafter, your credit card on file will be charged on the 1st of every month based on the tuition rate listed above.
Please always ensure your credit card information is up to date. Any declined/late payments are subject to a $25 fee.
3. Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons
Please let the school know of any missed lesson dates with as much notice as possible so that we can inform your teacher.
For lessons missed by a student, the school holds group make up classes every weekend to “make up” for the missed lesson. To view the make up calendar or sign up for a make up class, contact the office. Group make up classes are 45 minutes long, divided by age/instrument/level, and sign ups are on a first come first serve basis. There is no limit to how many group make up lessons you can take and they never expire, even after your withdrawal date.
For lessons missed by a teacher, the school will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute teacher is unavailable, a private make-up lesson with your teacher will be scheduled, or you may choose to attend a group make-up class.
4. Summer/Vacation Dates
The school operates year round and does not close for the summer. We are happy to offer unlimited group make-up classes that are held every weekend. If you are taking multiple weeks off for vacation and want to keep the same lesson time, your payment is still due on the 1st of each month to reserve your lesson space. The lessons you missed can be made up before or after your vacation. Group make up classes never expire and there is no limit to how many you can take.
5. Media and Image Release
You grant Opus Music School the permission for the image, audio and/or video recording of you or your child. We may use it for purposes such as announcing student of the month in our newsletters, capturing photos or videos from our recitals or performances, or featuring students on our social media or website.
6. Trial Lesson Policy
Opus Music School offers the option to take a 15-minute trial lesson at the cost of $20 per trial lesson. If you decide to sign up for lessons, the cost of one trial lesson will be deducted from your 1st month’s tuition.
7. Referral Program
Receive one free 30-minute lesson when you refer someone to our school and they sign up for at least one month of lessons.
To redeem your free lesson, contact us to sign up for an additional lesson, any day of the week, with your teacher or with any of our other teachers. You are welcome to try another instrument or give the credit to a friend. Lessons cannot be rescheduled once they are on the school calendar. Free lessons cannot be applied as refunds to your account or redeemed for cash. There is no maximum to the amount of free lessons that you can receive.
8. Music Books and Materials
Music books, materials, and instruments are not included in the tuition and you will be responsible for the payment. Your teacher will recommend which books to use and they can be purchased on your own. Amazon or sheetmusicplus.com has most music books in stock. Depending on a student’s level and progression, the prices and frequency of new materials will vary.
9. Termination
To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, fill out a withdrawal form before the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons.
10. Non-Solicitation
You agree that you are a student of Opus Music School and not of the teacher, and thus agree not to accept any offers if an Opus Music School teacher attempts to solicit you as a personal student. You agree to notify Opus Music School promptly if any teacher attempts to solicit you as a student or attempts to receive payment from you outside of Opus Music School.
11. Other
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. Opus Music School reserves the right to refuse instruction to any student at its discretion for reasons including but not limited to unruly behavior, repeated declined payments, uncooperative parents, excessive tardiness, or repeated absences.
Students must be picked up promptly after their lessons. Opus Music School is not responsible for providing supervision for students outside of teaching time or providing childcare for students or their siblings. We assume no responsibility for children who are left unaccompanied.
You agree to abide by the most recent School Policies at all times.
12. Liability
Parents or legal guardians of minor students and adult students agree to indemnify and hold harmless Opus Music School, Opus Music Education, Inc., its instructors, employees, owners, agents, and representatives from any and all claims or liabilities that may result from acts before, during or after student lessons, events, or activities, either on or off studio premises, whether negligent or not, including hearing damage or hearing loss.
13. Credit Card Authorization
I do hereby authorize Opus Music Education, Inc., hereinafter named the Company, to initiate recurring credit entries to my credit card account as indicated and named in the Opus Music School New Student Enrollment Form. Please always ensure your credit card information is up to date. Any declined payments are subject to a $25 fee. We only ask for the last 4 digits of your credit card on your New Student Enrollment Form so that we can keep track of which card is on file.
