Maorin Shimizu is originally from Tokyo, Japan. She has been teaching at Opus Music School since 2015.
Ms. Maorin started her musical career at the age of 8 years old by studying music in middle school. During her tenure she was singing in choirs, studying piano and performing in bands in Japan. Ms. Maorin had worked at Yamaha Music Company and studied Yamaha music method. When she arrived to United States, she studied vocal performance at California College of Music and studied general music, piano, and voice with Ms. Andrea Baker Wilkerson and Ms. Mary Durst at Pasadena City College and received her A.A/A.S. degree in Music.
As a vocalist, Ms. Maorin has performed in clubs, restaurants, and special city events in local and Japan. Ms. Maorin has been teaching music at private schools, public elementary schools, and giving private lessons to all ages in the Los Angeles area.
Ms. Maorin believes that studying music develops supple intellect while also nurturing a flexible personality, which is important to live in society. She teaches students that it instills a strong heart to any challenge that they may face and forges a sense of cooperation with experience of music! Ms. Maorin brings a passion to foster children’s musical dreams and goals.
