School Policies

Keep for your reference.  Please acknowledge receipt and understanding of School Policies by accepting the Terms and Conditions on the Opus web portal.

1. Tuition

All payments are processed automatically on the 1st of the month charging the credit card used during enrollment. Lessons occur once a week at the same time every week. View our website for our current rates.

Tuition is the same amount every month and is not adjusted for missed lessons.  Once you select a lesson time, we reserve that teacher’s time every week for you. Your tuition rate will remain the same regardless of the number of lessons you are scheduled to receive that month..  Monthly tuition is based on a 48 week year and has already been pro-rated to reflect the 4 weeks a year we are closed for holidays.  In certain months you will get 5 lessons, in certain months you will get 3 lessons, and in most months you will get 4 lessons, but the charge is the same.

There is a one-time $25 registration fee per student applied to your first month’s tuition for new and returning students. Additional fees may apply if the student participates in performances or music exams. Longer lesson length availability is not guaranteed and is based on the current availability of teachers. Tuition is subject to an annual increase.

2.  Payments

Enrollment is accepted anytime during the year and continues on a month-to-month basis.

The amount due at the 1st lesson is the 1st month’s tuition (pro-rated for the number of lessons in the 1st month) plus a $25 registration fee and the cost of any music books needed if you choose to purchase them from us.  Thereafter, your credit card on file will be charged on the 1st of every month based on the tuition rate listed above.

Please always ensure your credit card information is up to date by contacting our office or updating your payment method in your Opus Student Portal account. Any payments that are over 10 days overdue or any declined are subject to a $25 late fee.

3. Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons

For your convenience, please use the Opus web portal online system to cancel a lesson. A group makeup class credit will be issued to your account, which you can use to reserve a spot in one of our group makeup classes. To be eligible for a group makeup class credit, please cancel a lesson no later than the start time of the lesson you would like to cancel.

Group make up classes are 45 minutes long, divided by age/instrument/level, and sign ups are on a first come first serve basis.   If there is only one student signed up for a group makeup class, the class will become a 30 minute private lesson.

When a teacher is unavailable for any reason, the school will provide a substitute teacher for your lesson.  In the event a substitute teacher is unavailable, we will reschedule your lesson or issue a private makeup credit. If you choose to decline the substitute teacher, you will be issued a group makeup lesson credit.

4. Summer/Vacation Dates

The school operates year round and does not close for the Summer. We are happy to offer unlimited group make-up classes that are held every weekend. If you are taking multiple weeks off for vacation and want to keep the same lesson time, your payment is still due on the 1st of each month to reserve your lesson space. The lessons you missed can be made up before or after your vacation. Group makeup classes never expire and there is no limit to how many you can take.

5. Media and Image Release

You grant Opus Music School the permission for the image, audio and/or video recording of you or your child. We may use it for purposes such as announcing student of the month in our newsletters, capturing photos or videos from our recitals or performances, or featuring students on our social media or website.

6. Trial Lesson Policy

Opus Music School offers 30-minute trial lessons at the cost of $25 per trial lesson. Trial lessons can be rescheduled online with 24 hour advance notice of the trial lesson start time. For your convenience, please use the Opus web portal online system to cancel and reschedule a trial lesson. A makeup credit will be issued to your account. You can use the makeup credit to schedule another trial lesson with an available teacher within 30 days.

7. Music Books and Materials

Music books, materials, and instruments are not included in the tuition and you will be responsible for obtaining and paying for new books. Your teacher will recommend which books to use and they can be purchased from Opus Music School or on your own. Depending on a student’s level and progression, the prices and frequency of new materials will vary.

8. Termination

To discontinue lessons, you must fill out a withdrawal form by the 15th of your last month. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons and the last month’s tuition will not be prorated for any lessons you do not attend.

9. Non-Solicitation

You agree that you are a student of Opus Music School and not of the teacher, and thus agree not to accept any offers if an Opus Music School teacher attempts to solicit you as a personal student.  You agree to notify Opus Music School promptly if any teacher attempts to solicit you as a student or attempts to receive payment from you outside of Opus Music School.

10. Other

All students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. Opus Music School reserves the right to refuse instruction to any student at its discretion for reasons including but not limited to unruly behavior, repeated declined payments, uncooperative parents, excessive tardiness, or repeated absences.

Students must be picked up promptly after their lessons.  Opus Music School is not responsible for providing supervision for students outside of teaching time or providing childcare for students or their siblings.  We assume no responsibility for children who are left unaccompanied.

You agree to abide by the most recent School Policies at all times.

Parents or legal guardians of minor students and adult students agree to indemnify and hold harmless Opus Music School, Opus Music Education, Inc., its instructors, employees, owners, agents, and representatives from any and all claims or liabilities that may result from acts before, during or after student lessons, events, or activities, either on or off studio premises, whether negligent or not, including hearing damage, exposure to COVID-19, or damage or loss of personal property or instruments. We also are not responsible for any damage done to vehicles or items stolen from vehicles while in the parking lot.
