What Happens To Your Lessons in the Summer?
Summer is approaching! Due to our recent enrollment growth, some of our policies have changed for the summer. Please read!
Q: How do lessons work in the summer?
A: Opus Music School operates year round and lessons still occur through the summer.
Q: What happens if I withdraw for the summer?
A: If you withdraw for the summer, your time slot with your teacher will be released. Lessons are first-come, first-serve, and our availability is currently very limited. Your time slot will be offered to new students and we cannot guarantee the same time/teacher when you return.
Q: How likely is it that my time slot will be given away?
A: If you have a lesson time on a weekday between 3-6:30pm or on a Saturday, or have a teacher noted as "sold out", you have a PRIME time. Our school has grown in enrollment every month in the past year, so it is possible that your time slot will be taken when you return.
Q: What if I will be going on summer vacation and still want to stay with the same teacher and/or the same time in the fall?
If you are going on vacation, there are 2 ways to keep your same time and teacher:
1. Summer group make up lessons
You can make up missed lessons at our "group makeup" classes offered on the weekends. Group makeup lessons occur throughout the year and you can view the schedule here: www.opusmusicschool.com/makeup. Normal payment will still be due on the 1st of the month. Please inform our front desk of your vacation dates and sign up for the makeup lesson dates online.
WANT A HEAD START? You can start making up lessons for the summer in advance starting on 5/1.
2. Sub-lease your spot
You can send a family member or friend in your place for the dates you will miss. Just let the front desk know who is coming in your place and when. Payment is still be due on the 1st of the month. Please make sure that they reimburse you directly for the lessons.
If you LOVE your teacher or time, keep your spot by using #1 or #2 above. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thanks!
Opus Summer Tour - 4 Spots Left!
We're happy to announce that the 1st program for our Opus Summer Tour recital was sold out in less than 24 hours! Due to the high demand and this being such a great opportunity for our students, we opened up a 2nd program. There are only 4 spots remaining for our July 28, 2019 concert at Thayer Concert Hall at Colburn School. You can still sign up here: www.opusmusicschool.com/summer.
All of our student performers have received their Golden Ticket invitations. They will also receive their name on a promotional poster and receive an 8x10" photo on stage in the concert hall.
Audience tickets go on sale on 6/1 and will be $15 each.
We are excited to see our students perform on this world class stage in July!

Welcome New Receptionist, Sara!
In mid March, Opus Music School welcomed our newest member of our staff, Sara Landau. Sara joined the team as a receptionist. She assists in customer service
aspects of the school, such as assisting customers, scheduling, and invoicing. Prior to working at Opus, Sara worked as a manager at Peek-a-Boo Factory, an indoor playground/party space. She handled most of the day-to-day operations, as well as interacting with children during parties, drop-offs, and summer camps.
Sara and her family are residents of Hacienda Heights. Sara enjoys bringing her daughter to Los Robles Park to splash in the water when it is hot. Some of her other hobbies include crafting, drawing, watching movies, and spending time with her family.
Fun Fact: Sara has 6 guinea pigs and their names are: Pumpkin, Ben, Finn, Luna, C.C., and Tootsie.
Welcome Sara to the Opus Music School Family!
A Note From the Founder
Check out the evolution of the Opus logo throughout the years.
Opus the Octopus is the mascot of Opus Music School. He is a singer and the leader of a band, and also plays piano and guitar. The octopus was chosen because the word is similar to the music term "opus" (which means the order of a composer's works).
In the first logo, we received feedback that the octopus was difficult to recognize as a letter "O". So our designer changed his mouth to be open singing and voila! Here's the final product.
Very truly yours,
Mrs. Theresa Cheng

Follow American Idol With Me:
American Idol made it to the Top 10! Here are my favorites so far from the American Idol auditions.
-Alejandro Aranda (dishwasher from Pomona, CA) - very talented singer/guitarist/pianist who says his 3 musical influences are Trent Reznor, Chopin, and Bach.
-Madison VanDenburg (17 year old from New York) - teenager with an amazing power in her voice. Judge Katy Perry said she "could be the next Kelly Clarkson."
My winner prediction: Alejandro Aranda. He's just so multi-talented!
