Ms. Patricia encourages me to learn challenging pieces and work on my technique. She is always nice to me.
3. What is your favorite piece to play and why?
My favorite piece to play is Mozart’s Turkish March. I like it because it is a famous piece that is fun to play.

Some challenges I have faced are finding time to practice and getting frustrated with challenging pieces. I overcome these challenges by splitting up the music into individual sections and practicing in the morning before school starts.

My goal with music is to have fun, work on my technique and play with more emotion.
6. What makes you unique? What are some of your other interests?
I am unique because I enjoy going to school and having different hobbies. Some of my interests are playing basketball for my school and club teams, being a Girl Scout Cadette, ice skating and doing arts & crafts.

Gianna B. is 14 years old and has been a student at Opus Music School for over 2½ years. She has taken guitar, piano, and voice lessons and is currently in our Platinum Pop Stars Band class. Over the years, Gianna has blossomed into a wonderful musician ultimately focusing on piano and voice. Gianna recently had the opportunity to perform with the band, The Warbucks, last month at Edna Vees Public House in Covina. Gianna sang two rock songs, She Talks to Angels by The Black Crows and Black Velvet by Alannah Myles. This performance was special for Gianna because it was her first time singing in public with the band. More importantly, Gianna was able to confirm that performing and playing music is her calling. Gianna will be singing again on February 29, 2020 at the Diplomat Bar and Grill in Rancho Cucamonga. We are so proud of you Gianna and cannot wait to see you on your musical journey!

The contestants have been nominated based on their student enrollment growth, marketing creativity, and overall achievement. I will be flying to Columbia, South Carolina in April to conduct a 15-minute speech about why our school is deserving of this award. I'm hoping to come back with a win!
